Ponant Cruises (Compagnie des Iles du
Ponant -(CIP). Press release of EUCRAS (European
Cruiser Association) - 08.April 2010
EUCRAS votes best new build
cruise ship of the year 2010 – LE BORÉAL wins
Gold-Award.
The cruise liner LE BORÉAL from French Cruise Company
Compagnie du Ponant is awarded ‘Best New Build cruise
liner 2010’ by the European Cruiser Association (EUCRAS).
The ship is honored for its individuality, elegance and
innovation.
The award is being awarded, in
particular, for focusing on passenger’s expectations,
on-board amenities, style, design and the translation of
the clear concept from drawing board to finished
article.
Stefan Jaeger, president of EUCRAS, is
quoted as saying: “The LE BORÉAL has met our high
quality expectations, so she really deserves the award
“Newcomer of the year 2010”. It’s not only the amazing
style and design; but her environmentally friendly
technology that impressed us. No silicon painting on the
hull, recycling management of waste water and garbage,
protecting the ocean bed by using dynamic positioning.
The ship met stringent environmental criteria and has
earned the environmental label “Green Ship”. On her
Antarctic cruises in Winter 2010/2011 she will only
carry 200 passengers not her maximum capacity of 264
passengers, this voluntary decision will allow all
guests to discover and admire the wonder of nature
whilst protecting the fragile environment.
LE BORÉAL will begin her voyages with
fully booked inaugural cruise from Marseille on 06th
May 2010, followed by a special F1-Grand Prix cruise to
Monaco.
