Monaco Grand Prix Charter - 2006

Monaco 2006 - The Grand Prix of Monaco is one of the most prestigious of the series of Grand Prix Races held at venues around the world.  It is almost the only one that has a set date that you can rely on hence, it becomes viable for Corporate Programs to charter a luxury ship for use as a base for their promotional operations and as a venue to invite their worldwide top producers to experience the thrill and excitement that is the Monaco Grand Prix.

It is impossible to describe the event and the excitement that engulf Monte Carlo over the race weekend, suffice to say that it is an event once seen, it is never forgotten. In other words a true incentive planners dream....

This year Worldwide was honored to work with three of our clients to put together three separate charters for the event.  One of the charters, "Le Ponant", is a continuous repeat from our very good client "Grand Prix Tours" and this charter can be bought into for smaller groups.  The second ship, "Seabourn Legend" was a repeat charter by Marlboro the Ferrari team sponsor and was used as a floating hotel/entertainment center for the corporate and team people. The third ship, "Turama" was on charter to BMW and also used as a corporate entertainment base.

Drawing on experience from our past charters and friendships made over years of bring ships into Monaco, Worldwide was able to have all three ships located along the length of the new pier inside the harbor.   is a very important segment of any Monaco charter at anytime of the year due to the limited space for large vessels in the harbor.  This is compounded at Grand Prix time due to the enormous amount of yachts and ships wanting to berth there for the event weekend. To be able to berth inside the port ships have to enter and berth in a sequence defined by their size and eventual location within the port.

Anyone who has ever been to Monaco during this time of the year knows there are also other logistical problems to contend with. The city of Monte Carlo is virtually closed to vehicular traffic and very restricted to foot traffic because the event is held on the streets of Monte Carlo.

Most of our clients are familiar with the 5 star deluxe products of "The Yachts of Seabourn" so suffice to say that the ship produced their usual high quality product which was customized extensively for the charterer.

"Le Ponant" is less well known, but over the years has built a name within the industry as a consistent high quality small ship in the high 4 star category.  On charter for this event by the same client for the past 3 years and for the foreseeable future.. which speak volumes in itself.

Possible the most exciting of the three ships was the "Turama".  This mega yacht (in every sense) is somewhat new to the charter market, and quite obviously a premium product ideal for this type of high profile incentive event.  (Full information on the "Turama" is available in our report section).
