As we all know business could be better. Is the
answer or part of it - attending more trade shows or should one be
spending the big bucks it cost to exhibit at these trade shows in
other ways? I know from the huge increase in
electronic marketing that I receive into my mail box that many
people in the industry are going the blast email route. This
in itself is just part of the picture.. if you're like me you
probably do a bulk erase of many items that do not appear to be of
interest... so are these companies actually achieving anything?
In discussing the various options with both our
client base and our suppliers there does not appear to be any real
consensus. when even our big suppliers are cutting back their trade
show budget to the minimum and in quite a few cases dropping their
participation from all but the shows they consider most productive,
where does a smaller company like Worldwide get the most bang for
it's buck?
One of the major show we have attended for over
twenty years has been slipping badly both with exhibitors and
attendees and we have struggled to justify the cost of participating
each year. This year with all that is going on in our industry
we may well pull the plug on our attendance.
At this stage we have firmly committed to the
IncentiveWorks Show in Toronto and the EIBTM in Barcelona..
Chicago is very much up in the air as are some other events we
participate at.
