Jim Huff Announces
Retirement
After 43 years in the “hospitality business”, Jim Huff is ready to
retire!
After beginning a 23-year hotel career at the Boca Raton Hotel and
Club in 1966, Jim continued to work with 4- and 5-star independent
resorts until joining Windstar Sail Cruises in Miami as Director of
Convention and Incentive Sales in 1988. At that time, Windstar was a
small, independent cruise line with three 148-passenger sailing
ships which travelled the Caribbean, Europe and French Polynesia.
Soon after joining Windstar, the company was purchased by Holland
America Line and moved to Seattle in 1989.
After 6 years with Windstar, Jim was given an opportunity to return
to his home of South Florida with Radisson Diamond Cruises which
quickly became Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
In 1997, Jim became the first independent contractor with Worldwide
Travel & Cruise Associates and continued working his client base
until 2008 when he and his wife, Betts, moved to Betts’ home area of
upstate New York.
While maintaining a “semi retirement” status with Worldwide, Jim and
Betts continued to operate Creative Advantage, Betts’ home-based
company specializing in corporate gifts for the incentive industry.
After returning from a “high school retreat” in July of 2009, Jim
suffered a right-side embolic stroke. He continues physical therapy
to regain complete use of his left side arm and leg.
Jim and Betts are now enjoying being “snow birds” and spending the
winter months in their comfortable 1920’s bungalow in Winter Haven,
Florida, and the summers in the beautiful Mohawk Valley of Central
New York.
When Jim has fully recovered, don’t be surprised to see he and Betts
on a cruise ship somewhere as cruising, travel in general,
entertaining and being entertained are still their passions.
Worldwide wishes Jim and Betts the best in the future. For any of
their valued clients and friends who are looking for assistance in
their next cruise incentive, please contact Jim, Steve, Diana or
Leon who will be most anxious to prepare the best quotes on the best
available ships for your clients.
