I have been in the travel industry
since graduating from college. My first job was in London working for Seaboard
World Airlines (now known as Flying Tigers). In the early 80’s I moved to St
Thomas USVI – where I met my husband, Steve. Together we owned and operated a
marina that handled the “new” generation of mini cruise ships. As part of this
marina, I started up my own travel agency, which soon became very successful and
well known in the Caribbean. In the late 80’s we sold both businesses and moved
to France. After three years, with tourism taking a downturn in France, and with a lot of our business coming out of the United States Jim made the decision to move the company to the USA. It proved to be a a well timed move as the US economy was just starting into an upswing. In 1992 Jim made the decision to close the French office completely and to concentrate the companies effort on the US market. It was at this time Steve and I closed up our travel business and decided to move to Florida. In June of 1992 Worldwide Travel & Cruise opened it's doors in Fort Lauderdale with the intention of concentrating on small cruise ship and yacht charters aimed at the corporate travel market. Initially I ran the retail travel agency side of the business but soon decided that event planning and programming on ships of all sizes was far more interesting, and have been doing that ever since |
