I first started in the Travel industry in 1989 when I took a part time job with Norwegian Cruise Line, at this time I was attending the University of Miami. It was a short-term job but aroused my passion for cruise ships. In 1991, after starting what I thought would be my eventual career in accounting and quickly realized it was just not for me.
Later that year I accepted a position with Dolphin / Majesty Cruise Line and from that moment I came to realize that this was what I had been searching for. Being a smaller company I was quickly exposed to all facets of the cruise line's operation, from reservations to operations as well as sales. Majesty Cruise line was eventually purchased by Norwegian Cruise Line and I found myself surplus to requirements with the company.
My next move was to join Carnival Cruise Line as a Charter and Incentive Account Supervisor. This position brought me into the main stream of that market segment and I was soon handling a number of major programs and corporate accounts.
As the wheel turns, so it went full circle and a few years later, I was hired by Norwegian Cruise Line as an Incentive Sales Specialist joining their team of experienced professionals and assisting in building up the Corporate side of NCL business. Norwegian Cruise Lines was itself the subject of an industry take over by an Asian Cruise line and it was about this time, with things being very much up in the air that I made the decision to switch from the corporate sales side of the cruise industry to the corporate side of the hotel industry.
Joining the Eden Roc Resort and Spa in Miami Beach, Fl. as their Manager for Incentives, Insurance and Cruise Lines was a decidedly different move for me and over a period of time I realized that my heart really was in the cruise line industry, so when Worldwide Travel & Cruise Associates offered me a position as their Product Development Manager, I was quick to accept.
My position at Worldwide is two fold, as the Product Development Manager I work closely with the Cruise Lines and Resort Properties which are Worldwide's partners to develop marketing strategies to promote our travel opportunities to other professionals in the Corporate Travel Sector. My other "hat" allowed me to use my past experience in sales, working with the sales team here at Worldwide to generate and close new business.
In 2004 I moved over to the sales team on a full time basis as Director Sales. |
